Date with Maamaw

Me and Maamaw had a date while
I was in Arkansas. We took a looong walk
like a mile (or maybe 2 blocks)
****
We got to a house and I knocked on the door
and there were 3 people that had been waiting
for us to get there.
****
I met Karyn, Kaitlin and Faith
****
Then we go out to the back yard
****
They had a swing set and a slide and a
TRAMPOLINE !!!
*****
I climbed right up there and it was weird!!
Kinda like trying to stand on a beachball
****
Kaitlin showed me how it worked.
*****
I GOT IT !!!!

*******

WAHOOOOOOO!!!!!

*******

Now I have my own friends in Arkansas.

I had fun, then Pa and Samantha

came to the house and we all walked home

(almost a mile)

Easter

The Great Easter Egg Hunt
2008
*****
Can you believe there are eggs in the trees????
******
I know there are more eggs around here

*****

Crazy rabbit even hid them in the leaves

*****

Papparazzi should be arrested!!

I am to busy to pose or

sign autographs right now

*****

I need to make my reservations for

next Easter. Grandma & Pa

will need me here to help them find

the eggs again.

*****

The End

There will be more pictures after
Serena emails hers to me .
We colored eggs and we also hid eggs
a 2nd day because it was so much fun
the first time

(This is a combination of 2 emails from a friend)
(Randy is Cynthia's son)
So, do you celebrate the 12 holy days of your birthday?
****
I didn’t realize you reached a milestone, as well….Congratulations! Looks like you’ve done some pretty cool things so far, which is more than a lot of other people can say. Life is short – gotta make the most of our time while we’re here!

I enjoyed reading all the great adventures you’ve done! And here’s to another 25 years of them!!

My reply to Randy:
**********************
.. My life has been so full that it takes many many
days to commemorate each and every
outstanding achievement .

Never thought I'd make it this far. I turned 60 years young
yesterday .. I have lived thru ear bleeding concerts
during the 60's and 70's ..
Taken motorcycle trips to Canada & Mexico . Was in high
school history class when it was announced that
Kennedy had been shot, Been married ( way to young- 19),
given birth, divorced.
****
I have been to the ballet and to the symphony and
I have tended bar in some seedy places.
I have loved and hated , I have danced and
traveled,met famous people
and yet there is soooo much more to do..
**
I have learned to use a handgun and I have taken
a high dive into the pool in an evening gown. I have
been to Disneyland and DisneyWorld and every amusement
park in between. I have picked oranges to pay my bills and
I have mucked out stalls to make money to make my car
payment when I lost my paycheck at the race track ..
I have been to Nascar races and the Kentucky Derby,
Mardi Gras and ChicagoFest -
****
I am also a Maamaw now , but I'll have many
more adventures.. I drove across the USA in a
66 yellow mustang, I have been so broke that my utilities
were turned off and managed to work enough odd
jobs Plus my regular job to have them turned
back on..
I have lived in a commune and I have visited churches of
many many denominations. I have attended funerals for
both parents , grandparents and many other family
members and the funerals of too many friends..
****
I have had the same best friends for more than
35 years and consider myself a lucky woman..
I also remarried and have found out what is feels like
to have a forever partner , a man that has stood
by me and even learned to shave my legs and armpits
when I could not do it after a life threatening accident.
*****
Yes, I am looking forward to at least
another 25 years of adventures.

Cirque du Soleil

With all of the other crap going on I forgot to
post about our trip to see Cirque du Soleil
**
We saw Saltimbanco
**
Very energetic and colorful !!
**
As usual , people here (AR) did not support the show,
what I mean is 2 of the 3 nights the top section of
Alltel Arena was closed -due to
lack of ticket sales.
*
Good for us because we bought tickets in the
upper deck and got moved to a much
lower seating area.
***
Unfortunately , I don't think they
will be back due to poor ticket sales.
Now if it was a monster truck or something where
you were expected to wear camouflage
show the place would have been packed.
***
I guess I will have to go to Vegas or
Chicago if I want to see another show .
***
Thanks Tom!!!
I loved the show !!!

All I know is she is out of surgery and recovering
******
Yes, I am still fat , can't lose weight
and am very frustrated. I don't
know what to do. I am so fed up
with all of this..
Hmm strange choice of works.. fed up...
My biggest problem- well one of
the problems.. I can't lose weight
because I am in pain 24 / 7.
My knee are ALWAYS hurting.. Feels
like somebody driving nails into my kneecaps.
***
With this pain I can't exercise.. And we all know
you have to be able to exercise to lose weight.
So I am in a catch - 22.
Can't lose weight because I can't exercise
Cant exercise because the knees are so bad.
WTF !!!!
I am sooooooooooo sick of this ..

Update from Karen

THIS IS AN EMAIL FROM KAREN to Me
********
Talked with Cathi, she is home and doing fine.
***
She said that the pain she's had for years is gone
and now just has the pain of the surgery itself to get
over. She has a neck brace thatgives electrical
impulses at the incision site.
She didn't remember that I had called over the weekend.
It was funny,
she was wondering why I hadn't called---
Good Drugs!
****
Also I have passed my physical and re-took the ASVB
test last night 3hours. Thank God they just informed
me on Tuesday afternoon. I freak out on testing.
I have been so busy with Anna being gone from work
on a family emergency I didn't have time to freak. I'll
find out next week my scores and then soon as the paperwork
is complete I am back in.
I will be going to a unit in Boulder!
************
Hey I get to leave the country and go to the
Republic ofBoulder once a month.
I shan't forget my passport, wouldn't
want to be kept there.
I don't smoke dope and I think I'd look
funny in drealocks and eat vegan.
*****

Gotta run Love to all
LKThank you.

This is my reply to Karen

You -- VEGAN !!!! hahahahaha

Not in this lifetime .

As for going to the Republic of Boulder-

Land of the Unshaven pitts & legs

Think of it as a trip in a time machine.

Come with me thru the hanging glass beads
to the place where you can wear your water buffalos,

and

dashikis.

Your dreads are welcome and the hummus

is fresh. Let the alternative music lift you and

carry you away .. Wait - that is not music ,

that is smoke lifting you. Oh wait, you really

are not drifting , that is just my vision of you .

Oohhh hear the meditation chimes.

Time to cleanse your chakra.

Illegal immigrants and the education system

Letter by a Florida teacher...............
A teacher speaks

This is a subject close to my heart. Do you know
that we have adult students at the school where I teach who are not
US citizens
and who get the PELL grant, which is a federal grant (no
pay back required) plus other federal grants to go to school?

One student from the Dominican Republic told methat she didn't want
me to find a job for her after she finished my program, because she
was getting housing from our housing departmentand she was getting
PELL grant which paid for her total tuition andbooks, plus money left over.

She was looking into WAIT which gives students a CREDIT CARD for gas
to come to school, and into CARIBE which is a special program
(check it out - I did) for immigrants and it pays forchild care and all
sorts of needs while they go to school or
training. The one student I just mentioned told me she was
not going to be a US Citizen because she plans to return to the
Dominican Republic someday and that she "loves HER country."

I asked her if she felt guilty taking what the US is giving her and
then not even bothering to become a citizen andshe told me
that it doesn't bother her, because that is what the
money is there for!

I asked the CARIBE administration about their
program and if you ARE a US Citizen, you don't qualify for their program.
And all the while,
I am working a full day, my son-in-law works morethan
60 hours a week, and everyone in my family works and
pays for our education.

Something is wrong here.
I am sorry but after hearing they want to sing the
National Anthem in Spanish - enough is enough.

Nowhere did they sing it in Italian, Polish, Irish (Celtic), German
or any other language because of immigration.
It was written by Francis Scott Key and should be sung word forword
the way it was written.
The news broadcasts even gave the translation --
not even close.
Sorry if this offends anyone but this is MY COUNTRY.

IF IT IS YOUR COUNTRY SPEAK UP -- please pass this along.

I am not against immigration -- just come through like everyone else.
Get a sponsor; have a place to lay your head; have a job; pay your taxes,
live by the rules AND LEARN THE LANGUAGE as all other
immigrants have in the past -- and GOD BLESS
AMERICA!

PART OF THE PROBLEM

Think about this: If you don't want to forward
this for fear of offending someone --
YOU'RE PART OF THE PROBLEM!

It is Time for America to Speak up
If you agree-- pass this along,
if you don't agree ---
don't complain when your kids
can't go to college because they
cannot qualify for loans, and grants
